The Once And Future Hot Ticket
Mr. Vice President Goes To Washington: Al Gore sent an email Monday announcing that he has already blasted past his goal of getting 350,000 people to sign postcards demanding Congressional action on the Climate Crisis. He's increased his goal to 500,000 signatures - - so if you haven't already, fill out a postcard and spread the word! (Special to Sean Hannity et al: The postcards will all be printed out on recycled paper.)
The Hill reports that THE hot ticket in D.C. right now is Al Gore's testimony before the House and Senate on Wednesday. Both the Senate and House committees plan to open overflow rooms for staffers and the media.
There they go AGAIN! Knowing full well that Gore's testimony will be extremely compelling, the far right has been launching a seemingly endless series of bogus attacks against Al Gore, "An Inconvenient Truth", the science proving the climate criss, reality, decency, truth, justice and the American way. Media Matters has been busy debunking them - - read the latest debunks here, here and here. (Even the Tennessean has gotten into the debunking act.)

VP Gore was eloquent, intelligent, informative and patient...
I watched both hearings and was proud of VP Gore. He remained composed through several misguided and strange attacks by a couple of short sighted Republicans. Imhof was visibly red-faced and disturbed that he could not catch VP Gore in a poorly orchestrated attack on his personal energy consumption. It was sad to watch this senior Senator make a fool out of himself with that "Pledge" nonsense. It demonstrated how terribly uninformed the base of the Reps is and frankly uneducated in matters of science and sociology. Imhof kept referring to a report from 1975! VP Gore stayed on point and spoke only on the facts of the matter and possible suggestions for corrective measures.
The subsequent Rep senators, with the exception of Mr. Warner and a few others, were outrageously rude. Funny how little patience they have when a fraction of constraint and minimizing was directed at them.
I WONDER WHERE THOSE SMUG REPUBLICAN GRINS WENT, THAT FOR THE FIRST 5 YEARS OF THIS ADMINISTRATION EVERY OF THEM DISPLAYED. Funny, the memos that encouraged them to smile when opposed to in interviews and press conferences, etc.. to infer they were confident and in control. It seemed to disappear from all their faces when Pres Clinton refused to be dogged in that now famous FOX interview.
I recall the utter rudeness during the Monica stupidity and applaud VP Gore for his professionalism and restraint today under fire. He was eloquent and I was proud to be a member of this website and the movement to encourage him to run in 2008..
We should all be proud.. ALL WENT GREAT TODAY!!!!
Thank you VP Gore! Well Done!!!
Please "Run Al, RUN!!" Lets have an American Renaissance in 2008, and end the darkness once and for all...

I have never heard about it.
How did it go?
I haven't heard anything about how the day's events went.........anyone know?
Had the wrong day--just watched hardball
Matthews thought Gore's position was not moderate enough for someone who was eyeing the White house. All spoke of Hillary's chilly expression (She was probably 'sizing' him up) Ultimately Gore spoke with confidence and intelligence---it made me smile. Inhof was an embarrassment, and yes, we pay his salary. It really all boils down to what we are willing to spend for the changes we need to make. There is no reason why change cannot take place rather radically and quickly. I don't know anyone who wants a coal fired plant in their backyard, or near the school or within eye shot. So why build one? If we took measures to be a little more conservative in our fuel consumption, and by that, I basically mean stop simply wasting energy, we could probably fend off new construction until we catch up with the technology for alternatives. Incentives could work.
Back to the issue Matthews raised about Gores lack of moderation--I guess to be a viable candidate one has to lie to please the masses.
Wanna bet that Matthews
Wanna bet that Matthews didn't even understand half of Gore's proposals?
