Postman on the Draft Gore 2008 cyber-strategy, campaign origins

David Postman, one of the most respected political reporters on the west coast, is blogging about the Draft Gore 2008 movement over at the Seattle Times. It's a strong overview of where the campaign is headed, and where it's coming from, for activists who are new to the campaign.

Much of the information in this article is under development for the new About sections on this site, but in the meantime Postman has done a good job (complete with lots of links) of compiling this history.

And while you're over there Goristas, post a comment about the campaign, or a thank you note... or call Hillary a name... anything... ;) The entry seems to have annoyed some Gore detractors and they could use a little balance.

The Seattle Times

It was fortunate for me that David Postman is having articles about Draft Gore 2008 being published in the Seattle Times. My wife actually saw this at work. It helps me defend myself from charges that I am "wasting my time on the computer."

We are serious as a heart attack about putting Al Gore in the White House. That doesn't mean it's OK to neglect your family; balance in all things. But nothing is going to be better for my family, and for all our families, than to see Al Gore sworn in as President in January 2009!

Life is nothing to be taken for granted

I want you to know that your tragedy is never forgotten in my families thoughts

I also know something of loss. On March 21st Al Gore will testify before Congress. That day has a special meaning to me. It was almost 14 years ago now and I know that many people have gone through worse. But in 1993 I was to be married on March 21st. On the morning of March 20th my fiance had me dial 911 to summon the emergency ambulance. I rode with her to the Univ. of WA hospital where she died the day before we were to be married. We had just found out she was pregnant.

My friends, don't take your loved ones and family for granted. None of us are going to be on this Earth forever.

I am lucky. Last week we celebrated our eleventh wedding anniversary. The best way to honor those who are gone, is to live the life they would have wanted for us.

Dylan's Blog

Dylan, First, I send my love to you and your wife. My heart goes out to you both. I can see why you admire and respect the Gores so much.

Second, thank you for putting the time, energy and expertise into developing this cite so we can all connect in our efforts to encourage Gore to run for president. As you can see, I really enjoy connecting with like-minded Goristas -- and I've learned a lot from reading the blogs, participating in the forums, and checking out the news.

Hugs,

And thank you for diving in and helping the new site come alive

We're very fortunate to have teamed up with the brilliant people over at http://www.CivicActions.com as we develop this new site together... great things yet to come.

Postman's Draft Gore 2008

Dylan,

I read his post and I was greatly saddened to hear of your loss and I will remember you in my prayers.

And this is exactly why we need Al Gore because we do need someone in the White House that truly cares about people, someone whose actions speak louder than words.

Dear Dylan

I never knew your heartfelt story, God bless you and yours---isn't it amazing how our lives weave and tangle-----who knows how your little guy may have changed the course of this world. Hopefully all our individual threads will join to form a strong unbreakable rope able to pull us into the new world we must create. Peace, gail

The Old Home Page

Dylan, I miss the old home page; The collection of pictures, speeches and personal/professional history of Al Gore. Just this morning I searched for that GREAT "The Democrats Are Looking For A Leader" picture and was saddened that it has literally been erased from the net. Please provide a link that can get me back to that treasure trove of AL Gore material.

archived resources

Wayne in WA State's picture

I want to add that I was searching for transcripts of some of Al Gore's speeches and found them gone from this site as well. Hopefully, when the old site is available again as an active link that we can look at (even if we cannot add to it), it can be maintained as a permanent archive.

The archive is live now

Dylan's picture

Hey Wayne, as I said, the archive is working now. All the speech transcripts from the old site are here, but we're working on the display. They'll be up soon, along with some other old content, and more importantly, a lot of new content.

Oops, the public wasn't even supposed to have access to those

Dylan's picture

That super high-res version of that picture (one of my personal photos of Gore) was supposed to be in a password protected area of the site available to our graphic designers only! Wonder why it was wide open like that.

Anyhow, virtually all the old content is working it's way over here, including a photo gallery and the speeches... Give me a little more time.

Thanks for the archive forum link Dylan!

Great news!

I've got into the archive of the forum itself. Coolness. Guess what? , I had 1776 posts. : )

The photo gallery and speeches would be appreciated as well. Thank you for all of the hard work again and I will hold up my side by working on my Gore Group and blogging and posting across the web!

Changing the world

Ian's story contributes to the campaign in more ways than one. For one thing, he proved that changing the world is possible, even for a gravely injured child... We try to honor his memory by the work we do here.
