Why Gore?
I've heard a lot about drafting Gore for President. I've heard a lot about a Gore-Kucinich ticket.
I don't understand why? Sure, Gore will be good for the environment, but what else.
Gore has negatively impacted American Workers:
- Spoke in support of NAFTA passage (and is credited with pushing passage in his debate performance) which eliminated American Jobs.
- His "reinventing" government understaffed the National Labor Relations Board making it backlogged for years and essentially ineffective.
- Under his tenure as VP China had it's MFN status renewed and delinked with it's human rights policies, draining millions of US jobs.
- Under his tenure as VP Vietnam received full trade rights draining more US jobs.
- Under his tenure as VP the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) record of enforcement was at it's worst.
- Under his tenure as VP American Auto makers received over $1 billion taxpayer dollars to invent a fuel efficient vehicle that could get 80mpg or more. Of course the Japanese (Honda & Toyota) beat them to it. The US automakers NEVER delivered, and kept the money as there were no stipulations on the grant.
All these things fly in the face of what Dennis Kucinich stands for. I would only vote for a Gore-Kucinich ticket if Gore were again, VP. But I question whether Gore would do the right thing for American workers.
Despite his rhetoric on being pro-American worker, pro-human rights, and pro-environment, his actions above has worked to achieve the opposite.

Be part of the Draft Gore '08 campaign!

Of course Gore is not like Kucinich
Kucinich's ideas are naive and useless. He is a far lefty and Gore is a moderate.
But you should realize you don't speak for the "American worker". Only for some workers.
And you are in the minority. Far lefties have no chance to win a national election in the US.
You're obviously a Republican
What a meaningless response.
Since when is wanting a fair deal for the middle class and American workers a far left ideal?
Not so far left
One of my heroes, Thom Hartmann, mentioned a Gore-Kucinich ticket on air today. I don't think it is an electable ticket. Although I admire Kucinich, his ideals ARE considered far left. I guess that is only possible in a world where FOX can be considered "fair and balanced," but it's indeed the case.
I think Kucinich's fault is only in leaning too far towards protectionism. Total protectionism would as bad as totally unrestricted trade. The best of all possible worlds is found in applying the appropriate balance of control. Gore backed NAFTA, apparently believing that it represented the appropriate amount of control for trade within North America. I'd say he was wrong, but I can't fault him too much for that, as I've been wrong, too, from time to time. He's defended his position on NAFTA by saying things would be even worse now if it were not for NAFTA. That disappoints me, because I think he's wrong there, too.
But, for the rest of your criticisms, you have to remember that Gore was VP, not president, and did not exceed the boundaries of VP as Cheney has. When you say something happend 'on Gore's watch', it was really on Clinton's watch. Which is another reason NOT to support Hillary.
PS. Kudos for stopping yabu in his tracks.
