What is happening?

Hello- I haven't received any emails or seen any activity on this website since 12/10. So is it over then? Is there no chance of Al jumping in at the last minute? Is DraftGore moot? I suppose I can understand his reluctance- after earning the Nobel and an Oscar and doing all the good that he is doing, why jump into the cess pool? But we should know for sure and move on to Obama or Edwards or Clinton with our support... It was fun while it lasted! It would have been wonderful to see our 'true and elected' President take his oath of office! Might have scared a couple of Supreme's too! :-)

We are in dormant mode

We won't say it's over until the convention has come and gone and the election is over, but for now, we can pretty safely say that Gore isn't going to get in this race, certainly not in the conventional way. The filing deadlines for the important primaries have already passed, and Gore isn't on any ballots in any states. Our main draft activities have come to a halt, at the request of someone high up in Gore's office, and we are waiting, watching, observing the race along with everyone else.

There are some who hold out hope of Gore entering the race as an Independent, running, perhaps, with Mike Bloomberg. Highly unlikely, IMHO.

There are others who hold out hope for a brokered convention in which no single candidate has enough delegates to win the nomination on the first ballot. They feel that Gore could get in under those circumstances when committed delegates are freed to vote for whomever they please on the second or third ballot, if it were to come to that. Again, it's a highly unlikely scenario, but Gore fans don't give up easily, and many cling to this hope.

Gore has refused to rule out a run in the future, but no one knows when the future might be, or if it will ever happen. Much depends on the results of the coming election. We stand ready to mobilize if necessary.

Hi EM

I am working to come to terms with a non Gore candidate. It is difficult to simply switch that passion to an alternative choice. Something unforeseeably significant would have to occur for Gore to enter the race. As it stands, it is not going to happen. There is too much intrigue between Hill and Obama for anyone to get in the middle of that.

Hi, Gail

I, too, am working to come to terms with this, rather unsuccessfully, I might add. I'm unable to get behind any of the candidates and am just watching it all with not much interest and an awful lot of pain.

I really didn't expect it to go this way.
