Gore Should run as an Independent

What if Al Gore were to get enough signatures in each state to run as an independent candidate?

His slogan could be "Let's Get It Right This Time."

If Gore's name were on the ballot against Hillary Clinton/Obama and say Rudy G, I would think a great deal of the people who felt Gore had the 2000 election stolen from him would cast their votes for him. He could win the election with some big states like California, Texas, Michigan behind him. He is very viable as an independent candidate. There is a huge field of democrats with very little to offer and the Republicans are suffering because of this retarded administration in office right now. Meanwhile Gore is building a grassroots base and stockpiling money. He wouldn't have to waste his time in the primaries. He could jump in after the conventions and steal the White House.

Food for thought.

Gore as an indipendent

As I see it there are only two people on the political horizon that offer any hope for our country. Al Gore and Ron Paul could be the team that makes our country great again. I am a registered republican who would be so happy to vote the Gore/Paul ticket. We have had 8yrs of our freedoms being stolen in the name of security, our soldiers being killed in a needless war(I'm a Viet-Nam Vet), and our economy being ruined to the point that it will take decades to recover. Let's push for the Gore/Paul Revolution. I think there are a lot of unhappy republicans and democrats that are tired of the regular business as usual, follow the party line candidates that both parties are trying to force on us. I think most of the country is ready to vote in a new party.

What about Ralph?

Devoted life-long Democrat Al Gore will never, ever run as anything but a Democrat.

For those who are unhappy with the direction of the Democratic party I say get involved, vote in the primaries, and be willing to not always have it your way. Remember in 2000 when Nader was telling us that Gore and Bush were the same, that Democrats and Republicans were the same? Don't let it happen again! This is the United States and we don't have a Parliament. Republicans are never going to be easy to defeat.

The antidote to GW Bush

Yankee Doodle's picture

While the Democratic party has been an embarassment the past few years, Gore can easily run away with the Democratic nomination. He's head and shoulders above the other candidates. He's the antidote to GW Bush.
He's a slam dunk nominee, there's no need to run as an Independent.

NOT!

Running as an independent candidate is a bad idea. First, it would split the democratic vote. Second, why build an independent party when he's going to win the democratic nomination anyway? Independence is a move of last resort when you don't agree with the majority of what your party stands for. Al is not in that position.
