Al Gore to the rescue

http://www.draftgore.com/free_details.asp?id=81

e buzz is everywhere: in Newsweek, the New York Post, political blogs galore. With the Democratic nomination most likely unresolved until the convention and the battle between Clinton and Obama becoming increasingly acrimonious, many Democrats are beginning to consider the possibility of reaching out to a candidate untainted by the primary fight who could unite all Democrats and lead the party to victory in November.

More and more, Al Gore's name is floated for the job: a man with experience unmatched by any of the Democrats running for president, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, and winner of the popular (and arguably electoral vote) for president in 2000.

Hey Yankee Doodle,
Don't know how else to get ahold of you so I'll comment here and see if you respond. There is a lot of active conversation going on over at Democratic Underground on the Gore thread about the possibility of a Gore/Obama scenario and how we might help that move forward if, and only if, it looks like the Dems. are going to destroy themselves and their chances for victory in Nov. Or, you can contact me directly at rbailey22@rochester.rr.com.

The choice is Hillary or Obama in 2008

Barack Obama said he is running for President not Vice President. You have to realize that the choice will be between Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton in 2008. We all wanted Al Gore in the beginning but he chose not to put his name on the ballots in all of those states.

Gore-Obama

Yankee Doodle's picture

Hi Rod. Keep me posted if there'a anything I can do. There is no way Hillary or Obama would beat McCain, but if Al Gore teams with Obama the Democrats would have a good chance of winning. Look our country is in serious trouble. If the founding fathers could see what's happening now they'd call for a new American revolution. Greed, corruption and money have destroyed our system. We are living in a time of corporate fascism. Welcome to the land of no opportunity. Families have to put themselves in debt for a generation to put there children through college, etc, etc...
I could go on, but this primary system is a real joke. It's turned into a reality TV show. What kind of human being with any self respect would put themselves through this to "run" for president.

Drop me a note

at rbailey22@rochester.rr.com, and I'll put you in the loop with the folks I'm communicating with on a regular basis at DU. There isn't enough activity here (except, of course wanbligi) so that I don't check over here that often. We're trying to get ready to start a letter writing campaign to the super delegates if it gets to that point. Also will probably have a web site up if we are going to initiate the letter writing. We could use all the help in gathering data that we can find. If you have other like-minded contacts at AGO, bring them along with you. Feel free to give them my e-mail so they can contact me directly if they want.

Obama can beat McCain, yes we can

John McCain is too old to be President of the United States. Too old school. McCain just needs to retire to Arizona or whereever just like Bush. We need not be so negative about the Democratic chances in 2008. Remember everyone else has been feeling the pinch along with you in the last eight years under Bush. You think people are happy with Bush? No, they are not. Look at the approval rating polls for Bush and the exceedingly increasing people disapprove of the way Bush is running America.

McCain is tied to Bush is you've seen the famous hug where the two love birds are locked together. The Democrats will win and we all need to get behind Barack Obama just as Al Gore will do at the convention. So unless some of you are devout Hillary supporters our chance to regain the White House is with BARACK OBAMA.

And possibly Obama would offer the EPA directorship to Gore or Interior Secretary. Gore would definitely have his dream job in helping the environment in the Obama administration.

So stay positive and look to Denver as a clarification.

The only likely scenario I see would be a Obama/Gore ticket

Yankee Doodle I respect what you say, but you have to look at the process. Al Gore has been standing by the sidelines at his own choosing. If he wanted to be President of the United States he would have thrown his name into the hat. He didn't do that, so it is ludicrous to now think that the primaries and caucuses held thus far with the people voting would think anything else would be allowed except for Hillary or Obama.
In life we have tough choices to make and if we don't want to back Hillary Clinton then are only option is Barack Obama for President. We need to get behind him. I for one do not want John McCain as President and millions of Americans who have voted the primaries and caucuses see that.

So if Barack Obama were to select a Vice President like right now to help his ticket that may make all the difference. We should lobby Barack Obama to select Al Gore as his Vice President.

Been there done that

Yankee Doodle's picture

Look, neither Hillary nor Obama can unite the party at this point. I voted for Obama myself (in New York where Mayor Bloomberg said there was "voter fraud" yet where's the investigation?) but I want the Democrats to win in November. Going back to the 19th century they've had brokered conventions before. Just because millions of dollars are wasted on TV ads doesn't make the 2008 election or our country any better or fairer to do what's best for America and have a brokered convention. Al Gore had the election stolen from him in 2000, he was elected, but the criminals are in power. Get it...!?
And by the way he already served 8 years as VP, been there done that. I also believe Barak Obama knows the score when it comes to Gore and would get behind him.

Why is it

that most here want Al Gore as President except Al Gore? Get it? He had his chance to enter this 2008 Presidential race and did not. We have to live with the rules. He/She who comes up with the most votes wins. In 2000 it came down to the Electoral votes, even though Al Gore had the popular vote. The U.S. Supreme court ultimately said no to the recount. Get it?

Rather than rehash the 2000 result as if Al Gore was President, the reality of George W. Bush has left us with the Supreme Court decision.

Now we in November 2008 have the opportunity to make this right. Both the Clinton and Obama supporters can make this happen. Add all those votes that Clinton and Obama received in the primaries and caucuses and you would have a very united Democratic nominee in November 2008 that can beat John McCain.

Some of you are trying to give John McCain more creditt than he deserves. He would be an extension of George W. Bush for another four years. Sensible and logical Ameriicans do not want another Republican after 8 years of hell. Get it?

We all need to grow up and learn to work together. Forget about the color barrier forever. Black, White, Brown and mixtures of races hurt the same are hungry when they hunger, hurt when they are injured, are born as any one of the others and ultimately die after a good and descent life on earth. The trick is for all of us to unite for the bigger picture, look beyond our stereotypes and misconceptions and see ultimately the greater good for America.

So some of you that are stuck on Al Gore still running in 2008 for President that time has passed, we just need to face up to reality and go with what we have. Get it?

Unite Democrats for a greater good. Thanks.

Nomination Contest

Wayne in WA State's picture

Whatever else you want to say about this contest, it continues to be interesting.

Yes it is interesting

because Democrats want the White House back in 2008. Sometimes we just trip each other up in the process for something that should not be that difficult. What do you want after George W. Bush????

Let Wolf Blitzer pick our next president

Yankee Doodle's picture

Let Wolf Blitzer pick our next president. The whole process is a big joke, American idol meets Survivor meets the Apprentice. It's a TV reality show that costs and makes millions. The founding fathers are surely turning in their graves. It's no wonder anyone with half a brain would throw their hat into that ring. Remember right to privacy?...

If we all remember the 2000 Presidential election

then we would all realize that the 2008 is more critical than ever. Al Gore will have an impact at Denver and he will make sure of it. I'm not sure how he views Hillary, but I'm sure he is looking for the opportunity to help make the choice for the Democratic Nomination a whole lot easier at to convention.

My opinion on the convention in Denver it Al Gore will throw his support to Barack Obama and other superdelegates yet to decide will follow in some order.

Stay positive, that's our only chance

The magic number is 2025 for the Democratic Nomination. People have voted in the Primaries and Caucuses with Obama leading Hillary at his point. The Denver Convention will pick either Obama or Hillary is 2008. So let's all stay positive and work together for the greater good. Thanks
