I haven't read the book " Assault on Reason " , but from what I've heard about it & Gore's comments on not running a Presidential campaign ; he seems to make the implication that the U.S political system has been too corrupted to allow any genuine debate on issues or whatever . I haven't read the book so I'm not aware of any solutions Gore may have on this , but it might seem that saying that the whole thing is stuck on a spin cycle & that it would be self-defeating to try & run a campaign any other way is maybe a bit of a cop-out .

If this is what happens in 2008 , running a woman candidate against an Italian-American is going to be a 1st for both parties . From what I've read alot of conservatives have very mixed feelings about Guiliani - particularly with American politics being so polarised right now , I suppose you could say the same thing about Hillary though .
