Hello -
During the Great Depression, FDR put millions of people back to work rebuilding the USA's infrastructure. Highways, bridges, dams, railroads all were built with great public works projects like the NRA and the CCC. Its high time that many of these projects, (especially some of the outdated levee systems) were fixed.
Our focus has been "outsourcing" so much of American goods and services. I can only hope that Mr. Gore will take a lesson fro history and Thomas Jefferson's great foreign embargo of 1800. If America is to become great again, we must force ourselves to become self sufficient. No more cheap foreign steel, no cheap chinese goods, and most of all, no more arab oil. We are oil junkies, and the withdrawal will be painful, but necessary.
The Founding Fathers expressly wanted us to abstain from alliances and depending on foreign countries, but we have done exactly the opposite in my lifetime.
Mr. Gore might be the only candidate to take some of these unpopular yet drastically needed steps toward a stronger, more self-reliant America.
Just my opinion, and my hope for my Grandchildren's Future.

Rebuilding Infrastructure...
Gary Hart talked about this in 1984...
So sad that we still haven't made it a priority.
Of course, my thoughts and prayers are with those
families who have lost loved ones through this tragedy.
Very sad
It is a sad time for all involved. We send our strength.
It is also sad that it isn't apparently a priority. Besides the obvious goal of averting tragedies like this one, think of the number of jobs that would be created through a major overhaul of all the infrastructure systems in the country. Way overdue!
The saddest thing about it is
The moron in the White House is throwing money at Iraq that could be used to strengthen our national intrastructure here at home.
At least what they aren't stealing from that nation via lining crony's pocket books.
This tragedy is another on the long list of "Things that should not have happened", but did because we have a team of idiots and thieves in our national capitol.

We must also stop sending our best, highest quality resources to foreign countries who are the top bidders and ignoring the needs of our own citizens.
It is time for some sort of revolution to take place in America .... AGAIN .... !
