Gore has been our True President since 2000

As almost any thinking Democrat would agree, I consider Al Gore to be my current President, albeit in virtual exile. Bush, the worst President in our history was appointed by the Supreme Court. This is not just a political footnote - it is a decision that set our country back in incalculable ways. Al Gore has maintained himself not only as a revered spokesperson for our environment, but is respected throughout the world, the Democratic party itself, and even amongst many Republicans. We cannot change the damage done since Bush's inauguration, but we can change the course of this country on the next inaugural day in January 2009. Divided, there is little we can do as a party to defeat McCain. We must also consider that with his age, his choice of a running mate may make the person, just a heartbeat away from the Presidency, someone who could be even worse than McCain.

United, the Democratic Party is poised to capture the White House and with a continuance of our control of the House and Senate, real measurable progress can be made on the issues that each of us hold paramount to being proud Americans - improving access to healthcare, fostering respect around the globe, guarantees of work for all willing, and protecting the very planet our nation rests upon.

No other name in the public's eye commands the respect of that of Al Gore. It is imperative that we create a groundswell of calls for him to enter the race at the request of the superdelegates and one of the current two potential nominees running currently. Either of those potential nominees, willing to love their country above their ambitions, willing to hold hands as a running mate at the convention with an Al Gore the nominee for President, will without a doubt be viewed as a hero for the greater cause of our Party's beliefs.

Electibility

I will give the republicans credit where credit is due - over the last 28 years they have an impressive record of putting in place candidates who are electible. If it were not for the candidacy of Ross Perot in 1992 we would have suffered 4 more years of Bush Sr. The biggest blunder of the GOP was to have kept Cheney on as VP during Bush Jr.'s second term. Midway through the term he should havy replaced Cheney with a young, eloquent speaking, non-polarizing figure like the up-an-coming Sen. Richard Burr. this would have placed that VP in the public eye for a few years to be the heir apparent. But enough of that.

For a variety of reasons the media has created much of the circus between Obama and Hillary - that's how mainstream media makes their money - though controversy. Two candidates with an equal amount of inexperience and due to race and gender command a loyal following. It's really a Karl Rove dream - get two polarizing figures as the frontrunners, get them mad at each other, give them the ego and the hope needed to not quit, and let everyone limp out of the convention divided and poorly equiped to counter the November GOP juggernaut.

Again, the democratic party bosses learned nothing from the ill-fated campaigns of McGovern, Mondale, Dukakis, etc. They underestimated the strength of their GOP opponents by putting in week candidates. It is naive to believe that a racial/gender fracture about to unfold between now and the convention will heal before November. Either candidate alone will limp to November, then limp back to the senate in January. Our best bet is for a backroom or resort area secret meeting between Al Gore and Barack Obama in which both become pragmatic enough to realize that a Gore/Obama ticket could buy us at best 16 years in the oval office.

Isn't it About Time That Everybody Got Over 2000?

Whats done is done...no amount of rehashing what happened in 2000 will ever change it, so just get over it. And lets not forget who put the decisison of the outcome of that election in the hands of the courts...thats right, good ol'e Gore...he's the one that filed the first lawsuit.

2000

Al Gore had every right to file a lawsuit for goodness sake. I can't believe that Bush just was able to steal the presidency or I think he may have paid for it. I am not going to just get over it. Something bad happened in our history and congress was a party to it. I fear that the idiot running the show right now will go to war with Iran before the fool leaves the office he never deserved. I hope America will survive all the things the idiot prince with the silver boot in his mouth has done. God we need Gore-I am writing his name on the ballot come hell or high water!
