As I look at the field

I am new at this, but want to give a little input regarding my reasons for wanting Gore, vs any of the other good candidates. Obama is fresh, new, articulate and smart. What he is not is experienced. This is one of those times when I would feel more comfortable with a broader range of leadership experience and deep international experience. Richardson is experienced, but does not come across well on T.V. or in the forums/debates. Too bad. He might be quite good. Dodd is clearly a good guy, but he does not stand out and his experience is entirely in Congress. Kucinich stands up clearly for what he believes in. I like his heart and his ideas, but he cannot win. If he fell into the office, he would do well, but that is about the only way he will get there.
I would love to vote for Clinton, but I cannot. When the rest of us "regular folks" saw through the false run up to the Iraq war, she has the smarts to have seen it too. My gut tells me her vote was a cynical one. In addition she will galvanize what is left of the Christian right. She has strong domestic credentials, and some international ones, but not enough.. Biden is a good guy, and is a strong internationalist, but he is a strong Senator. He is not presidential.
Edwards is, I believe, very strong on domestic issues, but reed thin on the international level. I think he is sharp and sincere, but not a strong enough candidate.
So there you have it. Al Gore is smart, articulate, has a breadth of experience unmatched by the other candidates. He has a particular issue he cares deeply about and for which he has worked tirelessly. He can use the same energy and passion to help lead us back into a position of respect in the global community .

The Current Democratic Field

Obama may not have enough experience but he is a wise person and has not stooped to pointing the finger and alienating the "Right Wing Conspiracy" as Hillary has done. This will really hurt her, despite the truthfulness of her point of view. Obama seeks to lay blame, as VP Gore does, on the real power base of this country: it's voting public. I was very heartened in reading "The Assault on Reason" to think that there may be many Americans who might possibly come to understand that the current power structure, which they have been supporting, is actually hurting them. Al Gore shows again and again in his new book that we, the people, are the power in this country. If more of us could be reminded of this, the propaganda and lies of the current administration would be powerless.

Agreed

I do not want to be left with Hillary as the option. Maybe I'm closed minded but I can only see Gore as the one who can lead us out of this mess. I heard a reporter ask "Would Hillary make a good commander in chief?" Well after Bush anybody would be good but I want better than that. I want inspirational, transformational, progressive and wise. I don't want to settle. I want the best and Gore is the guy. Run AL Run!
