I'm reading The Assault on reason right now, and then saw this article this morning on Common Dreams.

I am in absolute agreement with both Mr. Gore and the author of the article as to the detrimental effects that today's media has on us, and as the author points out, what a powerful statement of protest.

Please back this up with the facts about the MSM
They are financially supported by the worst criminal polluters (oil & coal) and war profiteers (weapon contractors).
P.S. I believe it's true, but I just want to see the facts for myself so I can use them.

I'm not sure where the author got their information, after all this is an op-ed. article, however your question made me decide to do a little digging. This information is of course much more difficult to dig up than one might imagine, however I did come up with a site that had a partial list of the sponsors for Fox news.

and one citing a memo from ABC corporate sponsors that they didn't want their ads going up on 'Air America'. These sponsors included...
Wal-Mart, GE, Exxon Mobil, Microsoft, Bank of America, Fed-Ex, Visa, Allstate, McDonald's, Sony and Johnson & Johnson, along with Proctor & Gamble and the U.S. Navy.

NBC Universal(the company that owns MSNBC, NBC, USA, etc.) is a spinoff of GE.

You know,
I struggle seeing what many liberals dislike about the MSM, especially the alphabet channels. I can see the Conservative complaint more then I see the Liberal complaint. Bu$h’s war get attack on a daily basis in the MSM.
My best example is the conflict in Palestine. NBC actually laid some of the blame on Bu$h while reporting the story. & In 06 all 3 news programs reported Bu$h’s perspective of Iraq & then pretty much reported our perspective of the war. I actually believe that the Democrats have the majority basically because the evening news didn’t allow Bu$h to get away with his lies when he tried to use his bully pulpit to his advantage.
Personally I believe that Democrats hurt our cause by attacking the MSM instead of using the MSM to our advantage.

that they(MSM) have in general become more critical of the Bush administration, and I give them a lukewarm golf-clap for that, however my and many others issues are that you turn on the news and see how badly Paris Hilton is getting on in jail, then you turn on the computer and find out that 12 US soldiers died today along with 370 Iraqis and Congress just signed a bill legitimizing torture and there is discussion of whether or not to allow the drilling for oil in one of our few remaining pristine wildlife preserves and the Antarctic icecap is melting at an alarming rate and meanwhile the MSM is still talking about Paris Hilton, seemingly oblivious to these things that should be main stream news.

It is sad that we did all the heavy lifting
to get them the majority & they stole the credit & sold the credit to the highest bidder.
We, the people are more valuable then the money they receive. We generate the momentum needed to inspire others to vote for them not t.v ads. Yet, Rohm Emanuel popped off at the lip & stole the credit for the Democrat majority. The Democratic Congress will soon find out that their corporate freinds will not be able to buy them their next majority.
My advise to them is to take the money & run, run back to the minority you sale outs. VOTES win elections not money.
It wont be long before the Dems dig a deep whole for themselves & the Democratic Base will be yearning for a genuine candidate( Al Gore ) who will represent the people & not the paper tigers corp. junkies in the front of the line lining the pockets with bribes that sale their voter base out.

I hope you wrote a letter of these subjects to a letter for the newspapers. Write as many as you can and get those to the newspapers. You can view a copy of the countrys newspapers, and save those in your address book on one sepearte screen name, (not to overload your personal or AlGore.Org screen name and shoot them to all the papers. That was a GREAT analalygy of the TRUTH ABOUT THE NEWS AND no mention of the PERSON (AL GORE ) whom is inteligent enough to lead this country into the right direction
