Take some advice from an ex hippie...
You know, some of you are too young to remember the 60's or were not born. But some of you aren't. It was a passionate era. After all, we did end a war.
We did not have good TV or the Internet or blogs or Ipods. But we had loud voices and every chance we got, we took it to streets with bull horns and roudy demonstrations. Especially when Walter Chronkite was reporting. Them were the good ole days. Its missing today. So its up to you to go find it again!
You want to say something, well, say it to the world.
Remember, the people are outside the computer.
WHO DO WE WANT? GORE!
WHEN DO WE WANT HIM? NOW!
REPEAT AFTER ME...

Be part of the Draft Gore '08 campaign!

John Lennon
I saw the movie about him last night and it was showing how political he was and encouraging everyone to peacefully protest and he wasn't even an american! I didn't know until the movie that Nixon tried to deport him and when they finally got proof the white house was behind it, he won and got to stay and then was killed not long after.
I thought about just what you said, i was a teenager in the late 60's and early 70's but remember well. Everyone was involved in trying to stop Vietnam...we really felt like we were at war and they actually talked about it on the news.
I strongly feel that we need to protest especially during the Sept 11th week. Another group is doing local protests on the actual 9-11 in all cities everywhere....
Check out www.strike911.org someone in my town told me about it. I live in small pretty conservative town but I have been putting up posters for it all over town at stores.
I read Gore's latest book too, and one of the things I got out of it is that we the people have to be the ones to change the country because others aren't going to do it for us...(God I would give anything to have him be our leader!!)
"Sensitive" White House Manual Instructs Way To Keep Protestors
"Sensitive" White House Manual Instructs Way To Keep Protestors Away From Bush ยป

Not that they're worried or anything. But the White House evidently leaves little to chance when it comes to protests within eyesight of the president. As in, it doesn't want any.
A White House manual that came to light recently gives presidential advance staffers extensive instructions in the art of "deterring potential protestors" from President Bush's public appearances around the country.
Among other things, any event must be open only to those with tickets tightly controlled by organizers. Those entering must be screened in case they are hiding secret signs. Any anti-Bush demonstrators who manage to get in anyway should be shouted down by "rally squads" stationed in strategic locations. And if that does not work, they should be thrown out.
But that does not mean the White House is against dissent -- just so long as the president does not see it. In fact, the manual outlines a specific system for those who disagree with the president to voice their views. It directs the White House advance staff to ask local police "to designate a protest area where demonstrators can be placed, preferably not in the view of the event site or motorcade route."
The "Presidential Advance Manual," dated October 2002 with the stamp "Sensitive -- Do Not Copy," was released under subpoena to the American Civil Liberties Union as part of a lawsuit filed on behalf of two people arrested for refusing to cover their anti-Bush T-shirts at a Fourth of July speech at the West Virginia State Capitol in 2004. The techniques described have become familiar over the 6 1/2 years of Bush's presidency, but the manual makes it clear how organized the anti-protest policy really is.
And it's good for you, too!
Protesting is not only fun; it's good for you too!!
There's quality social time with friends, exposure to real live sunlight, venting of strong, unwanted emotions, building of supportive, healthy relationships, AND the destruction of the status quo! How can you go wrong!?
I, for one, highly recommend it to anyone with an opinion! It's also fun to see the reactions of people who aren't used to seeing anyone protesting anything. (Keep in mind I'm in NC)
"What on earth are those people doing over there?"
or
"I've seen those protests on TV, but never here in ______ (enter your city)!"
Actually, the power, energy, and excitement of a really good protest is unbelievable!
A truely remarkable thing to experience!
BTW - there's a BIG one scheduled in DC for September 15!!! We're comin' for ya, Dubya!!!
Right on.
You are so right. Bush is less popular than Nixon was right before he resigned and Bush goes right along grabbing more power and nobody is held accountable. People today are scared sheep, afraid to speak out. There needs to be demonstartions outside not in the blogosphere.
