asking Al Gore to run in 2008!
Don't let fear take over

I received a response to my entry about two loving people from "woodsa", the response woodsa had to the same conversation I heard was to leave the Gore Campaign. The response by woodsba is a perfect example of what happens when fear takes over. I will stay and fight that fear. I believe running away from an organization that can get things done won't get things done. I believe the Democratic Party is the best way for us to make some changes. I believe that Al Gore as head of that party will solidify changes we need and open doors for others.
We are at the start of a new century. Our technology is expanding beyond belief, our world is dying, Our wildlife is disappearing, and our 2000-year-old forests are being turned in to temporary living-room paneling. We need to take one step at a time, and bring back the life. By turning away it won't happen.
"Change begins within"
For the "Green" Party to take all those votes put Bush in office. Those people turned away because . . . so what did they get? They didn't get one of the most innovative, decisive, forward thinking Presidents we could have ever had. Let's do it right now. If you disagree, SAY SO. The "quiet man" is stifled. "Nice guys finish last" - OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND SAY WHAT YOU FEEL. How else will people know?
This is "politics" - there are concessions and compromises. That will happen. Let's make some giant steps and get a President in office that can step towards a living world.

Response to Fear

I agree with the reaction of some of you for not letting fear control our efforts. I suspect trying to emphasize issues thatv may stimulate fear might be a deliberate diversionary tactic to take focus way from some of the very important problems that need to be faced. I had a discussion with Michael Dukakis following his disasterous debate when he attempted to respond to the question about what he would do if his wife was raped. He agreed that it would have been better had he said "That's a foolish question. Let's go on to something more meaningful". Isuues such as marital arrangements are certainly important but on which many in the Gore movement have differing views. However, what brings us together is opposition to the poor performance of the administration ion matters like Iraq, global warming, energy, and the national debt. I believe it is most productive to work together on these issues on which we agree and not let us be internally torn apart by possiblly planted concerns about others. Let's pull together on what's most important.
