I Blame Gore

At the moment of his greatest poltical challenge, Al Gore has not only failed to accept the responsibility of running for President, he has cast the fate of the Democratic Party ( and potentially America) with Barack Obama, who is currently running as fast as he can to become more Republican than the Republicans: pro guns, pro death, pro religion in the schools, and probably pro leaving troops in Iraq. At this pivotal moment in our history as a democracy and as a planet, Al Gore has chosen to work the back channels while leaving the door of the White House wide open. Call me Cassandra- but to me the future is looking dimmer and dimmer.

The man who should be President never ran. And the best man in the field, John Edwards (the only progressive candidate) was defeated by a media intent on painting him out of the picture.

Ergo- I BLAME GORE!

Almost agree

GOPstopper's picture

The only true "progressive" candidate in the field was Dennis Kucinich.

Other than that, you are pretty much spot on. I am disappointed that Gore failed to step up and run. I respect his decision, and I try to console myself by saying he can do more from the outside -- working the back channels, as you say -- but in my heart I know this is BS.

And yes, the media had a big hand in eliminating Edwards. But Edwards was a loser in 2004 (not really, I know, but bear with me) and as much as America likes second chances and comebacks, we don't like losers. The media also eliminated Kucinich (like every time, before he even gets started). And Clinton. And the rest. And the media would have eliminated Gore. They wanted Obama. All we can do now is teach them the lesson: be careful what you wish for.
