Slate's Coverage of the 2008 Presidential Betting (Not Polls)
Well, as I was trying to see where the money was going in the 2008 Election, I happened upon this concept. Betting is actually a better predictor of a Presidential outcome than the polls. So if campaign contributions by big donors are not enough to make you sick about election outcomes, what about the idea that people make money on the outcome.
I guess we all know that people bet on all kinds of things in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. I guess it was just a bit of a shock to see that betting on an election is not something done illegally with a "bookie".
This is just one more thing that tops my list of what things make me skeptical that we will ever have fair elections and honest government.
Who was the guy who wrote a book called "The Assault on Reason"?
If this betting isn't an "Assault on Reason", I don't know what is.
