Al Gore Endorses Barack Obama

Tonight, Al Gore officially endorsed Barack Obama in Detroit, Michigan. In a rousing speech given in true Gore style, the man who most of us believe should have been president in 2000 vowed to give his full support to the presumptive Democratic nominee. For those who wish to support Obama's campaign via Al Gore's website, you can go to https://donate.barackobama.com/page/contribute/gore?source=AlGoreEmail.

Needless to say, our Gore activities were suspended a while ago and our campaign is officially over. Let's all do what we can to take back the White House in November.

Thank you Al Gore

Dear President Gore:
Thank you for leading the effort to save our environment, the most important issue facing the world today. As McCain caves to the Republicans, it is a fear that his support for gobal warming issues may be his next flip flop. A McCain presidency may mean another 4 to 8 years without significant enviornemental legislation. This will be a very close presidential race, especially when the republicans start to air adds staring Osama Bin Laden, portraying Obama as weak on National Security. With you as VP Obama would gain your voters who were cheated in 2000, your good reputation and vast experience would make people feel confident Obama's inexperience wouldn't be an issue, they would feel secure voting for you. No one else could add so much to the ticket. I realize it would be an enormous sacrifice for you, but it would make an Obama victory, and envirornmental legislation that could save our planet much more possible. I hope you will take it into consideration.
With great honor and gratitude,
Sincerely,
Alice Hill

Obama-Gore 2008

When Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick urged Obama's VP search team to consider Al Gore, she says that "they had a smile on their face. They have a list of candidates. I think I may have been the first to do that. They didn't say one way or the other."

Free Speech

Wayne in WA State's picture

You bet Al Gore and the members of this website support free speech. However, this website is not public property. This is a privately run website for Al Gore supporters. I think it's entirely appropriate for comments blatantly disrespecting Al Gore or endorsing John McCain to be deleted. If you support John McCain in 2008 I hope we can change your mind but don't expect AlGore.org to be the place you can freely talk trash about Senator Obama. Al Gore has just endorsed Senator Obama in the strongest terms. On your website you can do whatever you want.

Dear President Gore:

I have been a Democrat for 30 years and have another 30 years of voting to do. The people who created and supported the dirty campaign against you in 2000, both in the news media and in the general population, are many of the people who dominate the Obama campaign apparatus. Senator Obama is not a uniter, anymore than George Bush is.

George Bush and his supporters stole the Presidential election from you. Senator Obama and his supporters stole the Democratic nomination from Senator Hillary Clinton, using the same techniques they used on you. They spread racist lies about Senator Clinton. They still refuse to shine a clear light on Obama's shaky business, political, and personal dealings. They subverted the electoral process by manipulating the caucuses and by stealing Senator Clinton's delegates from Michigan. Obama supporters have wallowed in anti-female bigotry in their language and behavior against Senator Clinton and her supporters.

Obama is not trying to expand or unite the Democratic Party that already exists; he and his cronies are creating a new party with a set of "values" that says the needs of the working class and the poor don't matter, women don't matter ("Bros before hoes"), rural areas don't matter, old people don't matter. Obama and his are creating a political party for the "creative class" - the elitist group of urban, college-degreed (educated is the wrong term), self-absorbed, authoritarian wannabe-rich.

That is not the Democratic Party that made this country strong and I won't support this new version or Barack Obama. Maybe the Democratic Party will survive this attempted takeover by the authoritarians. If so, I will vote Democratic then.

Thank you for your leadership in dealing with global warming. Isn't it a shame that Obama voted for the same energy policy as Senator John McCain, one that provided enormous subsidies to conventional fuel producers while spending a pittance on alternative energy? Senator Hillary Clinton voted against that give-away to the rich. That's the kind of Democrat I vote for.

A letter from Al Gore

Wayne in WA State's picture

Dear Wayne,

Tonight, I will step on stage in Detroit, Michigan to announce my support for Senator Barack Obama. From now through Election Day, I intend to do whatever I can to make sure he is elected President of the United States.

Over the next four years, we are going to face many difficult challenges -- including bringing our troops home from Iraq, fixing our economy, and solving the climate crisis. Barack Obama is clearly the candidate best able to solve these problems and bring change to America.

This moment and this election are too important to let pass without taking action.

That's why I am asking you to join me in showing your support by making a contribution to this campaign today:

Over the past 18 months, Barack Obama has united a movement. He knows change does not come from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue or Capitol Hill. It begins when people stand up and take action.

With the help of millions of supporters like you, Barack Obama will bring the change we so desperately need in order to solve our country's most pressing problems.

If you've already contributed to this campaign, I ask that you consider making another contribution right now. If you haven't, please take the next step and own a piece of this campaign today:

On the issues that matter most, Barack Obama is clearly the right choice to lead our nation.

We have a lot of work to do in the next few months to elect Barack Obama president, and it begins by making a contribution to this campaign today.

Thank you for joining me,

Al Gore
